Dear Lovely Reader,

As promised, I’ve been digging into the Hauler Bag I got from attending BeautyCon in NYC.  This is one of the pieces I received from the Maybelline installation booth.

This Maybelline Color Sensational Vivid Hot Lacquer Lip Gloss is a gorgeous, dark plum, tempestuous color called RETRO.  I absolutely LOVE it.  The smell is pleasant, a light vanilla, and slicks on with no problem.  The applicator nib is kind of flat but that just helps to slick the product on just fine.  The container is glass, and has a little weight to it which is nice.  It feels…expensive.

The look is intense, wet, shiny and very pretty.  However, it is not like the matte lipsticks that stay put, so you may want to keep that in mind.  After a quick mini-pizza and mixed green salad with a bit of vinegar and olive oil mixed in, the color quickly disintegrated a bit.  I don’t worry – just reapply.  Very ultra glam color.  I can see wearing this to the club or some place very grownup.  My lips feel moisturized but not heavy.  There’s no heavy feeling of product.

Online they have some very interesting different colors…Royal (dark blue), Major (uniform blue), and Slay It (black).  Nudes like Charmer and Unreal are also interesting colorwise.  This is not your run of the mill line.  Maybelline surprises and steps up its game.  It’s priced at $7.99 U.S. each and there’s a store locator at the Maybelline website to help you find where this product may be located near you.

I’m thinking I may be getting several more of these colors!

Have you tried out Maybelline’s Color Sensational Vivid Hot Lacquer Lip Gloss?  What color(s) did you go with?  Would you try lipgloss or stay with matte? By the way, Maybelline DOES have a liquid matte line (Sinful Stone is a great teaser I have yet to try).  Do I dare stray from my Colourpop liquid matte ways?  Hmmm….

Stay lovely!
