Dear Lovely Reader,
When my Birchbox arrived, I was happy to try out this GRLPWR liquid lip which was included in the April box.
I had never heard of the brand, but I didn’t equate it with another brand they carry, the PBJ Smoothie Stick.
At first, I was ecstatic over the richness of the application and the color, Imma Bowse.
So……Time for the 8 hour day test.
On my way to the day job, 7:00-7:30 AM — look at that rich red! I am in love!

Per usual, I had prepped my lips first with my Rose scented e.l.f. lip exfoliator.
The staying power is not as strong as I thought it would be. Within 3 hours of application, it was cracking and flaking off, starting in the inside part of the mouth. As much as I loved this color, the staying power was just not there. The photos are too brutal to show. It’s a shame, it’s such a lovely color when first applied. It seems whereever the lip is moist, that’s the spot the pigment doesn’t stay.
I refilled the blank spots with the Tarte x Bunny (Grav3yardgirl) Tarteist Limited Edition Creamy Matte Lippaint in Swamp Family (Red) and the colors matched pretty nicely, it even seemed to give the original color more dimension and be less “flat” looking, if that makes sense.
With the Tartiest lip paint filled in the middle below:
So…that’s a big NO on this product. Alas, it looks so pretty initially.
