WOO! Just got the Ipsy January 2017 beauty edition. First off, this was a somewhat better selection from last month, in that nothing was broken or oozing.
The little makeup bag smelled very strongly of that weird plastic-y smell. The design of the bag was very space age. For a moment, think Tardis with the circles inside.
The theme is “Metropolis” – the glam of city life.
Within I found the following beauty pieces. First impression, the makeup was limited but pretty and low-key; I’m assuming to agree with various skin tones:
Naked Cosmetics – Mica Pigment in Desert Sunset #02 — I would say this is like a Rosy Gold, with some shimmer, and can be utilized in different ways to give you a complete makeup look if you find yourself without your makeup bag kit. Ipsy site shows you the options to use it as eyeshadow, blush, lippie and even nail polish (mix a little in with clear nail polish and voila you have a lovely rose gold shimmer on your nails to match your face look).
Manna Kadar Beauty Paradise blush — Described on the website as a “warm pink with apricot undertones”. Such a pretty every day color! Yes, it’s a bit difficult to open. Use tweezers so you don’t bust it broken.
ingredients: talc, mica, magnesium myristate, kaolin, mineral oil (paraffinum liquidum), ethylhexyl palmitate, polyethylene, phenoxyethanol. [may contain: +/- d&c red no.7 lake (ci 15850), red 27 lake (ci 45410), manganese violet (ci 77742)].
— FACE masks! OOOhhh, can’t wait to try these on! Cute packaging.
Temptu primer – have never heard of this brand, so I’m definitely going to try this out.
SLMissGlam/Blend Beauty Brush L34 — this is the first time I’ve ever received a brush from any of my subscriptions. With cruelty free synthetic hairs on a wooden handle, this thin brush is to blend one’s eyeshadows on the eyelid.
While I have heard of Naked Cosmetics and Manna Kadar, I have not heard of Temptu, and knew nothing about this brush brand. So this is going to be interesting and fun to try out now with not just the cosmetics, but also getting a look together with the primer and utilizing a tool such as the brush.
With this package, I feel the message is for the city look life, less is more. Hmmm.
