…or….When Makeup Goes Bad…and things start getting real.

Today I was continuing on my quest to try different beauty blenders (coming up in a later post) while also working on different drugstore foundations (coming up in a later post!) and THIS is what happened when I GENTLY wiped my nose as it was running being out in the crisp cold air the other day.

Rudolph watch out!

This foundation is from PALLADIO, and it’s called the Powder Finish Foundation Oil Free. There’s a mention on the bottle that it is “botanical & vitamin-infused.”  I had checked their website, there are three reviews, and they rave about it being “thin” and that it stays put in a rainstorm and in humidity.  Perhaps maybe not cold weather, then.  LOL.  WHAAAA??

I’ve been testing PALLADIO, a beauty store brand, for the past couple of weeks.  The color match on this liquid “powder foundation” was good, the coverage is light to medium, so I would say if you have decent skin to start with, great this is for you but if you have beauty marks or scars or other skin issues, you may want something that gives full coverage.  I’ve gently wiped my nose with other foundations before and there was some transfer but…but this is a horror show which played out in public in a restaurant where I went to go eat, and I gently wiped my nose because of course I knew I had foundation on, but this is ridiculous!  I wanted to hide.  I was with my cousin and she was surprised and said loudly “oh my God your makeup on your nose came right off!” It was THAT dramatic the difference.  It was horrifying.

I had put this liquid foundation on like I do normally – with moisturizing and priming my face prior and then using a blender sponge to put it on.  It initially looked great, it didn’t feel heavy and I thought wow I found a great foundation for $8.00 (U.S.) YAY alright, but it turns out within two hours it was done.  Looking at the photo now I’m noticing my eyes were creasing and there was just too much blue in my face that this foundation did not cover.

BELOW: This is how I looked before I left my house – not bad, right?  I was working an overall pink look on the lids with their LINE OUT LOUD Intense Shimmer Liner (pink metallic eyeliner) called TRINKET, MATTE BLUSH blush called BAYBERRY, and keeping the eyelids with a pink theme using their Matte Shadow Duo called SOIRÉE kept it simple, no dramatic extra makeup colors.  Kept everything on the pink including lining my lips, all products were from PALLADIO except the actual lipstick.  The LIP LINER PENCIL called TICKLE ME PINK was Palladio too.  The mascara was not a Palladio product.  I lined the pink shimmer liner with a grey eye pencil to make my eyes further pop and provide gentle contrast.  The grey eye pencil is not Palladio.

It was a light, pink, healthy fresh look.  The foundation didn’t look cakey, heavy or powdery.

I was initially so pleased with the PALLADIO foundation, it was close to my skin tone, price is $8.00 (U.S.) amazing, I was really excited.  Oh well.

As far as the eyeshadows and matte blush, these are the winners – but you will have to be on point with the primer and setting spray, because they wear off.  But the initial pigmentation and blending is gorgeous.  There’s some kickback so you’ll see alot of powder on the brush whether it’s for the eyeshadows or blush (you will see the brushes below showing what I mean, so be careful with applying as a little goes a long way).  There is fallout with the eye shadows.  The Line Out Loud Shimmer Liner is a stay put winner – it has a very thin long applicator brush and it goes on smoothly and beautifully.  Just know that this is the only one that you will need a very good eye makeup remover to take off.  Special shoutout to the Baked Eye Shadow line, I got this for $2.99 (U.S) at my beauty place and online this is like $8.00 (U.S.). Matte Eyeshadow Duo is $7.00 (U.S) online.  TALC is the first ingredient shown on both eyeshadow lines and the second ingredient after MICA in the matte blush.  The Matte Blush goes for $7.00 (U.S.) online.

There’s a current sale on for Black Friday on their products, the Baked eyeshadow being around $5.60 (U.S.).

On a final note, I have not yet used the Rice paper blotter and powder, which I think is absolutely adorable in packaging and runs between $3.00 – $5.00 (U.S.).  It’s pictured above with the haul.  Will make a separate review for that sometime later.
