Let’s Review: E.L.F. Lip Lacquer

I promised some E.L.F. reviews and because of their lovely pricing as well as good makeup product, here’s the next one on their Lip Lacquer

The casing reminds me of the old glass lipglosses that were popular way back in the day, but this is amazingly light plastic.  Very slick, simple packaging, very clean, basic.

The color shows through the clear plastic side so you get an easy idea of what the color looks like.  This comes in four colors plus a clear version.  Some people LOVE the nudes and go nude and some LOVE the colors.  I like both, but lean more on color.  Currently the E.L.F. site is out of stock on every color in this series but the BOLD PINK.

I LOVE the Bold Pink.  I thought it would be neon or super bright but it isn’t.  The pink is a lovely dark shade but not uber dark or baby light, it’s juuuuust right, like Goldilocks would say.

The applicator is a nice length, easy to work with not too short or long, and the nib is spongy and feels nice on the lip.  Picks up just the right amount of lip product and not goopy or blobby looking with extra product.  The nib or applicator tip is soft not scratchy and applies the color well.  One slick across the lip does the trick.

The color slicks on easy, there’s no pull or resistance.  The shine is beautiful.  It’s not gloopy or liquid, but goes on like a dream.  The scent seems to be like a slight vanilla or coconut, and it’s not overwhelming.  The taste of it is sweet, which I found interesting, and again reminiscent of the fruit flavored lip gloss I had as a kid. It doesn’t taste like fruit, but it’s lightly sweet and I had to control myself to not lick it off my lips!  The ingredients list Cacao (Cocoa)  Seed  Butter, Avocado and Sunflower oils.  It is moisturizing and keeps your lips soft and dewy.

I don’t tend to line my lips, but it may help for you to do so as the color does move around.

Which leads me to the one minor thing — don’t expect this to be a durable lipstick.  It’s something you are going to need to reapply frequently unless you are really good to not lick your lips or drink something, because it just doesn’t have staying power.  Otherwise, it’s a dream and I like it and don’t mind reapplying.

Price is $2.00 U.S. on the E.L.F. website.  Can’t be beat.

Description from the website (oh, it contains Vitamin E too!)  Very moisturizing!
